Being a part of the military is not only a great service to this country, it teaches you skills like team building and time management like no other school ever could. That’s why it’s not uncommon for people after they’ve served their time in the military, to go down an entrepreneurial path. Track Captain, and a veteran herself, Valerie Ellis has put together a series of events focused on the unique challenges that soldiers face when they try to put together their own startup. On this track, veterans will learn everything from how to get your startup going to how to pitch it to the right people, and they’ll meet people just like them from across all different industries to learn and grow their business.
The Tampa Bay area is not only host to MacDill Air Force Base and the St Pete Coast Guard Station both of which house several commands and thousands of active duty military members, but also home to a very active community of hundreds of thousands of veterans. Many of the Bay’s businesses are owned by veterans, this along with several vet friendly colleges and universities along with two large VA hospitals the Bay boasts one of the nation’s largest military related populations. Veterans are a community with proven success as entrepreneurs and for the second year in a row, Tampa Bay Startup Week is excited to present a Military Track dedicated to those who have served now seeking to serve again, in business and for the Bay!
